The Hour Is Come

Text: John 17

The Saviour knew from the beginning that he had his Father’s work to do; even at the age of twelve.

At the wedding in Cana, he informs his mother, “Woman, my hour has not yet come,” because he was aware that his time had not yet come (John 2).

Later, many tried to lay hands on him to seize him, but they were unsuccessful because his hour hadn’t yet come. When the hour eventually arrived, it was a span of time longer than 60 minutes.
Spend some time in the Garden of Gethsemane and witness what Jesus anticipated from the cup. He prayed to be saved from the hour.

On the cross, Jesus’ first words were, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” ‘Father’ denotes affection, confidence, and reverence from Jesus to God. Jesus prayed for those who scourged him. ‘Them’ includes us, the church of today, because our sins nailed Jesus to the cross.
