Things Concerning The King.

Text: Psalms 45:1

Psalm 45 provides a profound portrayal of Christ. Described as a maskil, it invites contemplation and deep consideration. The psalm offers insights into the person of the King, the work He accomplishes, and the subjects under His reign. In both Psalm 45 and Psalm 110, we see Jesus depicted as both a priestly King and a warrior King.

The power of the Word is emphasized, described as sharper than any double-edged sword. Have you experienced the piercing effect of the Word in your soul? Have you encountered the transformative impact of hearing the Word preached, where your innermost being is laid bare? Through the Word, we come to recognize our natural state and also encounter the nature of Christ.

To flee from the wrath to come, it is essential to place faith in Jesus. True repentance involves genuine sorrow and hatred for sin. It requires grasping the depth of Christ’s mercy and actively engaging in the means of grace that God has provided.

Let Psalm 45 prompt us to reflect on the magnificence of Christ, His dual role as a priest and warrior, and the life-altering power of His Word. May it inspire us to embrace faith, wholehearted repentance, and a diligent pursuit of God’s grace through the means He has given us.
