It Is I Myself

Text: Luke 24 : 39

Paul had the privilege of being one of the last to see Jesus in His physical body. As believers today, we rely on the Word to know and understand Him. Our ultimate encounter with Jesus awaits us in heaven, where we will enter into His loving presence. In the meantime, we partake in the body and blood of Christ through the administration of the sacrament.

Both the church and the recipients of the sacrament should approach this sacred act with care and reverence, recognizing the significance of the elements involved. When Jesus invited His disciples to observe His hands and feet, He was directing their attention to Calvary and His impending death. His sacrifice on the cross holds great meaning for us.

One of the benefits of Christ’s death is the assurance of His love for His people. Through His sacrifice, our sins are completely forgiven, as if they never existed. It is a full and perfect pardon that brings us into a restored relationship with God.

Let us cherish the assurance of love and forgiveness that Christ’s death has secured for us. As we partake in the sacrament and reflect on His sacrifice, may we approach it with reverence and gratitude, recognizing the immense significance of His death and the depth of His love for us.
