The All Knowing God

Text: Habakuk 1 : 1 – 17

Due to his burden, Habakkuk asks God questions. God responds (Habakkuk 1:5). God is not apathetic. Why then has he remained mute in the face of injustice and lawlessness?

The Babylonians are raised by God to attack Judah. Habakkuk 1:7–10 provides a job description for the Babylonians. Nevertheless, the Babylonians are blamed for idolatry and self-sufficiency even as God uses them to destroy Judah.

Although Habakkuk acknowledges the holiness of God, he is perplexed as to why Judah is being punished by the Chaldeans. The disciples questioned Jesus frequently as well. Before, through, and after the storm, Jesus was at peace (Mark 4:35-41). “Master, do you not care that we perish?” Do not delude yourself. God loves us! Do we need to ask questions? Yes, but with reverence and adoration.

There is nothing too hard for God; he perfects all things. God is with us during the storm. Jesus is real.
Sometimes we don’t like the answers that God gives.

The fallen world pushes against us, yet God is aware of it and wants us to constantly look on the cross. God is the First Cause of all things, not the author of evil. Everything is known to him.
